Elizabeth Hamilton is a Licensed Social Worker and professional consultant who dedicated her career to advocating for the safety and well-being of other people’s children. Her world and life’s work fundamentally shifted when her daughter, Amelia, was diagnosed with Friedreich’s ataxia, a rare and progressive disease. Almost overnight, Elizabeth had to pivot her professional expertise inward, navigating the heavy, unpredictable terrain of chronic illness to become an advocate and care coordinator for her own child. Recognizing the profound need for actionable, empathetic support in this space, she founded Recalibrating Life.
The platform was built to be a safe, dignity-centered sanctuary for caregivers, patients, and professionals, designed specifically to share the practical, trauma-informed tools and hard-won wisdom that she relies on daily, as well as the resources she desperately wished she had at the beginning of her own diagnostic journey.
Elizabeth loves to travel (see photo below from a family trip), crochet, collect way too much yarn, and surround herself with too many pets. Outside of being a wife and mother, she also views herself as a survivalist gardener – meaning, she hopes the plants will survive.
